Frequently Asked Questions
We know you’ll have questions. Let us give you some answers.
Absolutely not. It’s our job to help you get there.
Our coaches are experts in scaling and modifying movements and workouts to meet you where you are. No matter what your starting point is, spending the hour a day you have to workout with us will get you where you want to be far quicker than trying to do it alone.
Everyone can do CrossFit regardless of age, injuries and current fitness levels. Our members range in age from late teens through to those eligible for a free bus pass. Each session can be modified for each person to help them safely become healthier and fitter, whilst taking part in the same workout together.
We offer Foundations classes to help you get started, teaching you the movements in a small group setting before diving into a regular class. The average beginner does 3-6 Foundations classes before joining the regular program.
These sessions are offered Monday 6:30pm, Wednesday 7:30pm and Saturday 12:00pm so that you can get started training three times a week right away.
If you’re new to fitness, we would recommend prioritizing training three times per week. This will provide your body sufficient time to recover and adapt as you build your strength and endurance.
Rest days are important and even the experienced athlete should prioritize 1-2 days each week for rest and recovery. Ensuring appropriate rest will mean you’re able to hit each session with the intensity required to meet the stimulus of the workout. This is important to help you progress more efficiently and reduce risk of injury.
Yes, we appreciate our membership costs more than your average globogym. However, a membership with us is well worth it and we know that once you try it you’ll believe the same.
The coaching and level of support you receive in CrossFit is beyond that of any commercial gym experience. Taking part in group training within a CrossFit gym as more akin to having personal training, where the coach comes to know you on a personal level, is able to anticipate your individual needs and provide you with tailored instruction each session. Considering the cost of a single session with a personal trainer in London can cost £50-150, our membership provides excellent value for access to expert and tailored coaching within a group environment.
Importantly, if you sign up to a CrossFit membership you’re far more likely to stick with it, make training an important part of your routine and, with this, see incredible results for your health, fitness and wellbeing. The coaches, workouts and our incredible community spirit keeps you coming back.
We know that the vast majority of our members will show up for their sessions each week, which inherently limits membership capacity. With the same overheads and added coaching costs, this also contributes to the cost of our gym membership being more than your average globogym.
We have men’s and women’s shower and changing facilities, complete with hairdryers. There is also towel hire available from reception for £1.
The program for all classes is published each week on our custom version of the BoxMate app. Download the app and set us as your home gym. Once you’re approved as a member, you’ll be able to see the programming for all sessions each week.
CrossFit classes are 60 minutes long and include a targeted warm up, followed by a strength or skill element and then a workout. The strength or skill component as well as the structure of the workout will vary each day. You may also see longer conditioning pieces to build aerobic endurance.
For your first session, we recommend that you wear appropriate clothes to workout in and sports shoes. You should also bring a water bottle with you. This is all you need to get started!
